There are endless testimonials on this site that attest to Platform Studio as an exceptional space to record and to Damon Sawyer's qualities as an engineer and producer; simply put, I agree with them all.
I would however choose to focus on a skill that can neither be bought or taught and certainly won't be found by scanning the classifieds in 'Sound on Sound'; Damon's people skills are as important a part of the Platform experience as any bit of kit he might own.
Damon gets his artists to relax in to a foreign space with much speed and little fuss. He navigates all aspects of inter-band personality and ego, always getting the best out of everyone, every time. He is equally adept at allowing the space an artist needs to express, yet somehow managing to assert at just the right point, never allowing himself to appear either disengaged nor too hands-on.
He projects the perfect pitch of fan, friend and task-master; an imperative to making a strong, cohesive album.
You will no doubt have the songs and the ability before heading into a studio, but when you walk out with the finished product, by choosing Platform and Damon Sawyer, you will undoubtedly have a superior record than you would have made elsewhere. I know we did.

I just had to write a quick note to say thank you so much for the help, support and guidance you've given to The Midnight Rambler and me personally while we've been recording and rehearsing at your studio.
It is always a pleasure to be there. It is clean and welcoming and it is also inspiring to know that you have a sympathetic nature with regard to all aspects of running a studio. I can honestly say that I already recommend you to everyone I meet who might need your facilities.
The results of our sessions that I've heard so far are of a very high quality; clearly the equipment used is of a high standard and the effort in getting the recordings to sound so good will go a long way. Mike will likely finish the final mixes quite soon and the songs we have so far will definitely be the best quality that we've had so far.

Damon's approach to recording is unique in that, not only is he a first class engineer but as a top rated drummer has a great feel as a producer.
I have recorded four albums at Platform Studio with a wide variety of acoustic musicians playing Mandolin, Fiddle, Double Bass and Piano, throughout each session Damon's professionalism and support was invaluable in creating the finished albums.
For me, Platform Studio is the perfect environment for me and my Guitar.

I recorded my debut EP 'a little room inside' at Platform Studio in early 2010.
Working with Damon at Platform was an amazing and massively rewarding experience. Damon co-produced the EP with me and in doing this, brought a whole new flavour to the project, both from a technical point of view and also from a percussive aspect being the accomplished drummer Damon is.
I was working to an incredibly tight budget but found Platform's rates reasonable without skimping on the quality of the end product.
I couldn't recommend Platform Studio and Damon Sawyer more highly!!
They also have the best coffee! I've been barred from using the machine because I broke it a few times, but apparently it's still working and amazing!!!!!

I absolutely love mixing and mastering at Platform Studio.
There's easy parking on a small industrial estate set in lovely farmland in Hurst Nr Wokingham Berkshire.
The atmosphere is extremely conducive to creating, recording & producing music and I regularly recommend the studio to my contacts in the industry.

In the past eleven years I have recorded six albums with Damon, two with a band an' four solo with additional musicians. The latest, Garage Songs, bein' completed in June this year at Platform Studio.
I have worked in other studios over the years I've been playin' but I always enjoy the easy atmosphere workin' with Damon an' found Platform Studios complimented that perfectly.
The studio sound works perfectly for what I an' my accompanyin' musicians are playin' an' it cannot be said often enough how pleased I am with production an' sound on the new album. The feedback I have had from purchasers of Garage Songs has been more than complimentary.

I have been friends with Damon for a over 6 years now and as we're both drummers, there has been a great bond and trust between us. There is a mutual understanding of what I need as an artist and Damon, being an affable and patient person, can give.
I once recorded an album at Damon's old studio and was amazed at his engineering abilities, particularly his miking skills. But when he moved to his current Studio, the sound, the room and the outboard equipment took the recording levels to erm...another level!
The drum sound is immense because of the warmth with the now bigger sized playing room. The control room also has a good vibe and the sound has improved immensely.
Overall, it has been quite an experience having done 2 sessions at Platform Studio and I hope to work there for many years. The prices are very reasonable and the friendly atmosphere makes it a must.
